The society is always keen to welcome singers of all voices: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. Prospective younger members are especially welcome.
We do not hold formal auditions, and do not require any previous experience of choral singing – although the ability to sing in tune, and to read music, even if only at a basic level, are helpful! If you are thinking about joining please do come along to a rehearsal to see what it’s like. You will be warmly welcomed and provided with copies of the music. We only ask you to pay once you have attended three rehearsals and confirm your intention to join.
Subscriptions are currently set at £85, but there is no charge for anyone in full-time education.
Please let us know in advance that you are coming – you can do this by contacting the Chairman, John Turner, 01275 399919, or by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
John will be happy to address any queries you may have.
Rehearsals are held in the Folk Hall, 95 High Street, Portishead, BS20 6PR. There is a car park on the opposite side of the High Street.
Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, starting at 7.45pm and finishing at around 9.40pm, with a short break in the middle. We also rehearse on the afternoon of concert days.
The season extends from September to the beginning of June, and we do not meet during the Summer (unless for a social event); we also break over Christmas and Easter.
