The society is always keen to welcome singers of all voices: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. Prospective younger members are especially welcome.
We do not hold formal auditions, and do not require any previous experience of choral singing – although the ability to sing in tune, and to read music, even if only at a basic level, are helpful! If you are thinking about joining please do come along to a rehearsal to see what it’s like. You will be warmly welcomed and provided with copies of the music. We only ask you to pay once you have attended three rehearsals and confirm your intention to join.
Rehearsals are held in Portishead Methodist Church, on Thursday evenings, starting at 7.45pm and finishing at around 9.40pm, with a short break in the middle. We also rehearse on the afternoon of concert days.
The season extends from September to the beginning of June, and we do not meet during the Summer (unless for a social event); we also break over Christmas and Easter.
Subscriptions are normally £85 per year, although the subscription for the 2021-22 season may be reduced. There is no charge for anyone in full-time education.
Please let us know in advance that you are coming by contacting a committee member, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The chair and other committee members will be happy to address any queries you may have.
